Gregoire Schwebig, founder of AfricaWorks, announces a $10M investment in a 5,000 sqm mixed-use building in Dakar’s Mermoz district which is set to become West Africa’s largest mixed-use tertiary building, with 150 coworking desks, 40 apart-hotel rooms, a rooftop, restaurant, and pool.

AfricaWorks expands in Lagos via first deal of the investment fund that bears the same name (AfricaWorks Investment Partners).

AWIP acquired the mixed-use business park in Lagos, Nigeria and will redevelop it into a flex hub set to open in Q3, 2026.

Gregoire Schwebig shares that after 5+ years leading AfricaWorks, they’re launching a sister co called AfricaWorks Investment Partners dedicated to acquiring, developing and leasing prime commercial real estate assets in major African capitals.

Cape Town-based coworking and coliving operator AfricaWorks was ranked fifth in the Financial Times’ 2025 "Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies" list, making it the only coworking company in the top tier based on growth between 2019 and 2022. Founded in 2019, they operate over 25k sqm of office space across 15+ locations in Dakar, Accra, Lagos, Abidjan, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Lusaka.

AfricaWorks achieved revenue growth of over 3,500% during the measurement period, multiplying revenue by 40x to reach approximately $5M in 2022, while employing 150 people (or $33.3k p/employee). The company serves over 1,000 corporate clients including Spotify, TikTok, L’Oréal, Mastercard, and Flutterwave, and this marks its fourth consecutive year appearing in the FT ranking.
