🍼 5 ways to support caregivers who want to return to the office.

Over the last few weeks in our TWIC Discussions, we touched on how the growth of corporate-, suburban-, remote- and other newly-hyphenated, versions of coworking or flex workspace were not always addressing the huge hurdle of supporting care givers who want to work from anywhere that isn’t home.

Taking cues from these discussions, I wrote a blog post to highlight 5 different ways workspaces of any size can make using flex workspaces more realistic for caregivers.

👩‍🏫 Coworking space offers no-cost day offices to teachers.

Firmspace have announced that, through a partnership with Teach For America, they are making day offices to Denver Public School (DPS) teachers who aren’t satisfied working from home. 

The DPS system supports nearly 80,000 students, and this support (avail. through end of Sprint semester) could be a huge resource for the teachers who may want or need better space, internet or support.

📈 Network shares urban, suburban and secondary workspace usage.

John Arenas shared a “presence data” (or workspace usage %s) update from Serendipity Labs across the US. 

Compared to pre-covid benchmarks, suburban member visits are trending at 90%, with secondary moving up over 50% and urban slowly improving too. Interestingly, 60% of their members are self-reporting a return to the office 3+ days a week.

📑 Making the case for flex workspace on London’s highstreets.

Jamie Izzard shared a beautiful 36 (thirty six!) page pamphlet making the case for turning undertilized highstreet space into Greater London into more flexible workspaces.

The pamphlet provides practical guidance and propositions for a reimagination of the relationships between landlords, tenants, operators, and local authorities, with the purpose of reducing the risk profile of vacant units, while ensuring that high street assets create social value by making space accessible for local business and enterprise.
