DeShawn Brown from Coworks, sat with Sam Pickering, Director of Sustainability for The Instant Group.
He had a list of questions, and Sam answered every single one, including "What makes it unique?", "Why does Coworking needs it own rating? ", and "How doable is this for indie operators?".

The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and The Instant Group have now introduced their WELL Coworking Rating, a new certification for coworking spaces.
ICYMI: We summarized Sam Pickering discussing the idea behind this certification back in Week 23. This rating focuses on promoting health and well-being in flexible work environments by meeting specific criteria for air quality, natural light, and community support. It aims to provide coworking spaces with a recognized standard for creating healthier workspaces.

Time and time again we hear discussions between flex space operators regarding the ROI of lead- and sales-generating aggregator platforms.
So when we put together the Hot Seats panel for the GWA‘s conference in Phoenix, we started with the total aggregate volume of US dollars the participating platforms (Alliance Virtual Offices, The Instant Group and Preferred Office Network) actually put into operators pockets this year to date.
That number? $140,988,491. In this video, you can hear the reaction of the audience when we shared this on stage. Next week we’ll also share a summary of the panel, including the whole slide deck (which includes 5 other never-been-shared-before data sets).
PS. Work at an aggregator? I’d love to include your data sets into an aggregated global report on the impact and activities of flex space aggregators. Reply to the email version, or reach out to me directly, to get involved.

Ben Wright from The Instant Group shares some shocking numbers, noting that just 30% of recently closed fully built-out coworking spaces are now occupied by another operator.
When asked, some say they are waiting for a traditional tenant, but only 18% of these closed spaces have been taken by such tenants. Ben notes that this does leave over 500 "ready-to-go" spaces that other operators could activate, and asks what we as an industry are going to do about it.
I have two of my own questions. 1. Are any of those 500+ spaces now landlord-run flex spaces? 2. Some of those landlords need to chat to the folks at DenSwap about maybe listing those turnkey spaces on their marketplace for buying coworking businesses.
