🐣 UK brand kicks affordable childcare back to the forefront #
work.life (in collaboration with wellbeing specialists The Happy Human Project and creative agency Defiant) are stepping up to support working partners by launching a free on-site kids club.
It seems like this is a one-day pilot-session called dream.play.grow at their event space at St Cross Street. It saw all 15 limited slots snapped up by members within minutes, hitting home the need for more affordable summer childcare, as rising costs see the 6-week break costing an average of £1,076 per child.
Outside of the summer, we wouldn’t be surprised to see UK brands exploring how concepts like Narra Collective in Jersey City, Hopscotch Labs in Boston, and BubbaDesk across Australia are doing more, long-term.

🌍 UK & Ireland one away from 4,200 locations #
CoworkingCafe‘s Q2 2025 industry report for UK and Ireland explores their data from the 15 largest markets.
The UK boasts 3,949 spaces, (3,456 in England, 279 in Scotland, 124 in Wales, and 90 in Northern Ireland). Greater London is largest market (1,202), followed by Manchester (118), Birmingham (68), Glasgow (61), Bristol (61), Edinburgh (55) and Leeds (54). Cardiff has 41 spaces, while Belfast has 38. Median coworking memberships are £180 p/m, day passes at £25, VOs at £95 and meeting rooms at £30 p/h. As for the brands, Regus is largest (249 locations), followed by Fora (63), Bruntwood (53), Workspace Group (51) and Spaces (46).
Ireland has 250 spaces, nearly half of which are in Dublin (119). Median prices are €205 for memberships, €35 for day passes, €134 p/m for VOs and meeting rooms are €40 p/hour. The largest brands here are Pembr (18), Iconic Offices (14) and Regus (10).

🇺🇸 Locations down, footage up across 50 US markets #
CoworkingCafe’s latest quarterly report, leveraging proprietary data as of July 2025 breaks down availability across the 50 largest markets, along with their size and distribution, subscription prices and top coworking operators.
For the first time since the pandemic, the number of locations is down 1% QoQ to 7,742 spaces. Total square footage growth slowed to 0.3%, down from 3% last quarter, bringing the total to 141.25M sqft.
Birmingham, AL and San Fransisco saw the most new locations at 10% and 6% growth respectively. Long Island, NY saw 11% bump in coworking square footage (reaching ~911k sqft).
The average size of coworking spaces in the US did grow by 2% to 18,245 sqft (~1,695sqm).
Price (median) averages saw open-plan memberships at $225 p/m, VOs at $159 p/m, Day Passes at $30, meeting rooms at $45 p/h.
Regus saw 6% bump in location count to 1,141 spaces. HQ was up 14% to 319, while Industrious (164), Spaces (164) and WeWork (150) take the remaining slots in the largest five operators nationwide.

🆕 Exec suites brand moves location after 30+ years #
Dorthy Bright shares the news that Barrister Exec Suites have upgraded one of their locations. After 30+ years, they’re moving one of their locations from 5850 Canoga Ave to a Class A space at 21300 Victoria Blvd (a short 4 min drive).
Barrister also tease that they have multiple expansions underway, including new centers in Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica.

Rob Kirkbride of OfficeInsight breaks down the news of HNI Corp’s $2.2B acquisition of 113-year office furniture industry anchor Steelcase.
The cash ($7.20) and share (0.2192 shares of HNI common) deal values the firm at $18.30 a share – an 80% premium on Friday’s close.
