📺 Former ITV HQ set to be digital hub
Norwich City Council is nearing completion of a £4 million refurbishment of Townshend House, Expand 👇 transforming the former ITV regional headquarters into a digital hub for tech start-ups. Set to open in spring, the facility aims to accommodate up to 25 companies and create approximately 200 jobs. The hub will be managed by IWG.
The UK, along with other European local governments have been at the forefront of creative public financing around repurposing spaces on high streets and their equivalents of CBDs. While past deals have been more centered around leases, along with other trends we are witnessing, this is a shift towards third party management agreements.

🇦🇪 A look at coworking growth in the UAE
This local piece looks at three data sets re: coworking growth in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Firstly, Expand 👇 there’s a huge variety of options with affordable spaces and lux options ($40.8k+ p/year to use). Second, a free zone dedicated to digital commerce in Dubai partnered with IWG to launch a Spaces location there. And thirdly, local desk-booking platform Letswork boasts over 55,000 users across the region and Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Spain and Portugal.

🇸🇪 Swedish booking platform acquired
The Instant Group shares that they’ve acquired yta.se, the Swedish booking platform that has Expand 👇 delivered 250M SEK in annual lease value to flex space operators.
Now the release does note that yta would be part of Instant, but I assume they mean that it would be be rolled into the Worka group of booking platforms following the Instant + IWG Digital merger we’ve been tracking.

🫤 Merged entity gets ‘new’ name and puts major stake up for sale
Sky News shares a twofer of a story about the whole IWG+Instant merger-y thing we’ve been tracking Expand 👇 for a while.

The combined entity is rebrand(ed/ing) to Worka. Why’s this odd? It’s not been announced anywhere, and Worka was the name of IWG’s own ‘booking app’.
IWG have opened a data room for potential buyers of a 50% share of the combined digital ops entity.
