Antonette Benting shares that Workshop17 are opening a beach-side workspace in Muizenberg, in South Africa’s Western Cape province. Who wouldn’t want to swap brolly stands for surfboard stands?

Antonette Benting and Andries Levi Pretorius share that Workshop17 are set to open a 2,455 sqm workspace in September 2026 in Hazelwood, Pretoria.

Fun fact: Pretoria is one of South Africa’s 3 capital cities, alongside Cape Town and Bloemfontein. Think that’s fun? They also have 12 official languages.

Workshop17 will be part of the upcoming Junxion commercial development in Century City, opening on September 1, 2025. The flexible workspace operator was selected to bring collaborative energy to the mixed-use development, which aims to create a smart, connected precinct where work, life, and leisure integrate seamlessly.

Junxion will feature comprehensive amenities including gyms, paddelball courts, cafés, residential living, and transport links within walking distance, positioning itself as a hub for innovation, productivity, and community in Century City.

Genetor Coworking and CONVENDUM share that they’ve setup a pilot reciprocal membership programme, letting each of their members access each others workspaces, lounges, and meeting rooms. The programme runs from August 1st till December 31st 2025.

As members look to expand their workspace ecosystems beyond what can be covered by just one brand, we expect to see even more reciprocal partnerships formed. Prev. examples include KOFISI and Workshop17’s pan-African partnership, or WeWork and Vast Coworking’s similar partnership.

South African fintech company Yoco partnered with workspace experts Workshop17 to create a tailored office environment rather than committing to traditional leases. The custom-designed 20 Kloof workspace in Cape Town embodies Yoco’s values while allowing them to focus on their core business instead of facility management. This partnership provides Yoco with flexibility for expansion across multiple cities while offering employees an inspiring work environment that boosts productivity, collaboration, and talent retention.

It’s not news that coworking and flexible workspace operators are partnering with building owners, rather than signing leases. But, another trend we’re continuing to see is another form of partnership where occupiers sign for private, dedicated space (beyond just an individual office) that is designed and managed by the operator.
