💙 When you do local coworking right… #
A local blog called Glens Falls Living interviewed Cameron Gallagher about his business and moving to the town after living in NYC.
A lovely part of the interview is not only the mention that he’s based and growing his business from within WorkSmart, a local coworking space, but that he thanks the community’s founder for her support, stating "I owe everything to Christy, WorkSmart’s owner, and since moving my business downtown in late 2020, it has seriously changed not only my business, but my life!"
Great work Christy, and a glowing example of how supporting members can also lead to great local press and exposure as a bonus.

🔑 Apartment residents can now get coworking passes from their… locks? #
WeWork and Latch have announced a partnership allowing tenants whose apartments with specific locks to get all access passes for workspaces.
An interesting partnership, and I guess one that sidesteps making deals with independent residential landlords by going straight to the infrastructure providers. Interesting.

🔥 Any burning workspace tech questions? #
I’ll be moderating a very-techy and only-slightly-geeky panel at the GWA conference next week, ft Ginger Dhaliwal from Upflex, Miro Miroslavov from OfficeRnD,, Sofia Stolberg from PilotoMail and Brian Sutherland from Yardi.
Whilst we’ll be diving through the past, present and future of workspace technology stacks, I have put out an open call for any burning tech-related questions from my network. Feel free to reply to the linked post, ping me a DM, or reply to the TWIC email to get your questions to me.
🇮🇳 20% of office space total net absorption is coworking #
Anarock have shared some numbers about the coworking industry in India for H1 2022. This year coworking operators make up 20% of the 20.8M sqft of total net absorption of office space across 7 major cities. This is up from 6% of 9.33M sqft in H1/2021.
Coworking market moves.
⚠️ Two landlord-flex-enablers partner up. #
Wybo Wijnbergen shares the infinitSpace (which helps European landlords setup whitelabel tech-enabled flex offerings) and Vallist (which helps landlords in MENA and APAC enable flex offerings) are now partnering up.
Whilst there isn’t much details about what the partnership actually means, but it does signal a growing appetite from commercial office landlords adding flex offerings into their product mix.
👩💼 Female-oriented network partners with landlord-operator in Chicago #
allwork reports that Hera Hub would be entering the Chicago market through a partnership with Expansive.
🤷♂️ Platform raised $16M to “prove we never actually liked coworking” #
Christelle Rohaut announced that a16z led Codi’s $16M Series A round. The linked article puts the platform in direct competition with the concept of coworking popularized by WeWork, to which I assume refers to the hot-desking/open-plan idea of coworking. The platform helps business get office space on flexible terms, and landlords can list available space so long as it’s at least 700sqft, has great WiFi, has loads of natural light and is available Monday to Friday.
My question is will coworking spaces with matching office inventory be welcomed/invited/wanted, or will this be a landlord-only play?
🚚 Transportation co launches coworking space in Stockholm #
Mikael Billström shared news that Scania have launched their own coworking slash thirdspace in Stockholm, noting that "The launch of Scania Sergel is the first step on a journey towards a global network of open places, emphasising Scania’s strong belief in flexibility and high focus on employee experience."
