Frederick, MD based SHIFT Work + Play founder Megan Donovan shares how her personal struggle to balance work and childcare as a professional parent led to her successfully pairing coworking space with staffed, Montessori-inspired playroom sessions. Since opening in November 2022, the business has grown steadily, while offering additional services like parenting groups and professional workshops to support their community of working parents.

While not a new concept, it’s always great to find more operators who are finding success in pairing workspace with child care solutions. Due to additional regulations and requirements that come with providing child care, it can often be financially burdensome to flex workspace financial models and difficult to deliver.
