The Flex Index Q2 Report is out!! We analyzed the shift in office requirements for thousands of companies over the last quarter. Here's what we found: (1) Structured Hybrid (SH) models are becoming more popular. 30% of US companies are now SH vs. 20% in Q1 2023. (2) Full Time In Office becoming less common. 42% of US companies require full time on site work vs. 49% in Q1 2023. (3) Even Tech is starting to shift toward Structured Hybrid. 39% of large tech firms (1,000+ employees) are SH vs. 28% in Q1 2023. There is some interesting insight here, though the data is heavily weighted towards large blue chip employers with 1000s of staff. Over 60% of all office workers work within an organisation with less than 50 staff. This workforce is under-represented
Still think these stats are not much good. Overall averages including industries where in person is pretty well required by the job really distorts the numbers.
I hope all the talk about structured hybrid being better than fully flexible is not contributing to the 10% increase. The jury is still out on that one!
Phil Kirschner thanks for sharing, one wonders if fully flexible is more likely "employee hybrid led", with structured more likely "employer hybrid led? Are we seeing two versions of Hybrid here?
