Last week, we were delighted to host a gathering at Patch in Twickenham to honour BIG South London and its remarkable contributions to the local community. BIG (which stands for Business Innovation and Growth) was created in 2021 by the South London Partnership to bring together world-class knowledge, expertise and facilities of six universities to benefit businesses across five South London boroughs. Since its inception, it has been a linchpin for over 700 businesses, creating 800+ jobs, 80+ innovative products and services, and 8,000+ sqm of flexible workspace. This has included investing in the creation of Patch, alongside other dynamic spaces like Dulwich's Oru Space and Croydon's Creative Digital Lab. After three years, BIG will now be turning its attention to new endeavours, and it was an honour to be chosen as the host space to mark the end of this inspiring project. We heard from several of the key players responsible for BIG's success, including Matthew Hamilton, Paul Kirkbright, Krissi B., @Mike Jackson and more, as well as from Patch’s founder Freddie Fforde on the #WorkNearHome vision that BIG has been so fundamental in bringing to life here in Twickenham.
