"The truth is, this is the period of highest demand for flex that we've ever seen, and nearly every trend in modern work is accelerating that demand."
I've gotten a ton of messages about this, so in case it's helpful, here's my quick take on the WeWork bankruptcy: 1. Their new CEO, David Tolley, did a great job reducing the debt by as much as he did. Getting 92% of secured debtholders to agree to this new plan is a big win. 2. The debt's now taken care of, which leaves the much larger source of liabilities: their leases. (for context, even with zero debt interest their lease liabilities would constitute about 75% of revenue). I have no doubt he'll go after the lease liabilities with the same intent and focus that he brought to the debt. 3. There will likely be many closures to get to their target liability reduction. However, I think the press has overstated how devastating that process will be. 4. Most shuttered WeWorks will get taken over by a competitor, they won't sit dark. Even Industrious will likely take over a few of the higher-end ones. And for units that truly shut down forever, customers will hopefully quickly find a new home. 5. I feel optimistic about how this is playing out. The truth is, this is the period of highest demand for flex that we've ever seen, and nearly every trend in modern work is accelerating that demand. I hope the bankruptcy will put most of WeWork's troubles in the rearview mirror and put the focus squarely on that future.

This story really gets to me. We should push for more bird-friendly glass in our cities and homes. Birds matter. Check out Ian Cheney's incredible, thought-provoking film, "City Dark," for some context on light pollution and buildings: https://lnkd.in/gVkC5jD3
In just one night, more than a thousand migrating birds died after crashing into a single building in Chicago, due to what experts say was a deadly combination of migration season, difficult weather, and a lack of “bird-friendly” building measures. Buildings that leave their lights on overnight, when most birds migrate, are also more likely to attract collision. https://lnkd.in/gkfjg2Je

Let's make BYOM (Bring Your Own Mug) cool again!

🌎It's #worldrefillday!👏 This is my favorite eco-holiday. We can take ideas from the past (before single-use plastic) and innovate for the future by reusing materials made to last. Refill and reuse offer massive cost-saving and one of the best ways to drawdown carbon and waste - a great way to be part of the solution for a clean, positive future. Here's a few tips: 1. Bring Your Own - reusable water, bottle, coffee cup, to go ware, utensils 2. Ditch the single-use plastic & styrofoam food, drink and home products 3. Support restaurants with returnable to go ware, not plastic!! (Check out NY's Just Salad reusable bowls https://lnkd.in/gi3CDPbz 4. Businesses - check out the long list of reuse solutions that are available so your business can save $$. Visit Upstream https://lnkd.in/gUSHq7US 5. Download the Refill App to find a refill location near you https://www.refill.org.uk/ 6. My favorite Copper Water Bottle - it's stunning and naturally increases water's pH - https://lnkd.in/gUepyFjp #worldrefilday #BYObottle #ditchsingleuseplastic #climatesolution #climateactionnow #sustainablebusinesspractices #refillrevolution #business #plasticfree #zerowaste

This segment was such a great opportunity to get my business' story in front of a broader audience. Good Coworking was featured by NBCDFW as part of their April, ReThink Green series and they made our space look great! If you have a few minutes to watch, I'd love to hear your feedback. Happy Earth Day, every day. #business #coworking #earthday2023 https://lnkd.in/gpYf4H7M

We need to eliminate plastic pollution at the source and this includes "compostable" plastic, which is not actually compostable. SUPER certification is a great tool for you to eliminate single-use plastic from your business operations, especially if you're in coworking / hospitality. Good Coworking is SUPER Bronze certified and since we opened, we have had a green event policy for members and clients. If you'd like to reference this policy for your business, here's a link! http://bit.ly/3Xi8C6Z #coworking #business #singleuseplastic #besuper
SUPER® -Single-Use Plastic Elimination or Reduction- Circular Economy - Regenerative Economy - AI for Climate - Innovation - Impact Entrepreneurship
For over a decade I've been burying plastics labeled as biodegradable and compostable in my garden, to dig them up months and years later completely unscathed. A scientific paper published this week finally looks at plastic compostability using citizen science. The verdict coincides with my own observations, and also with many conversations with qualified industrial composters who handle thousands of tons of compostables per year -and who overwhelmingly have come to hate these plastics. #greenwashing #circulareconomy #soilhealth #composting #regenerativeeconomy #plasticpollution
