A day on Capitol Hill 🇺🇸 This year ISSA-The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association and Aunt Flow advocated for federal bills to increase access to basic necessities… PERIOD PRODUCTS. ➡️ The Menstrual Equity for All Act of 2023 (HR 3646) Introduced by Congresswoman Grace Meng, this is the most comprehensive menstrual health bill. Here’s what it does… ❣️ Requires schools with students that use menstrual products to provide free products. ❣️ $5m appropriated for Postsecondary Education. ❣️ Requires state and federal prisons to provide period products to those that are incarcerated on demand and without charge. ❣️ Creates a “food and shelter grant program“ to allow nonprofits and local governments to use to provide period products. ❣️ Would allow for period products to be covered by Medicaid, but state legislation would have to be enacted for it to be effective. ❣️ Requires employers with more than 100 employees to produce period products free of charge ❣️ Required federal “covered public buildings” to provide menstrual products for free ❣️ Would make it unlawful for a state or unit of local government of estate to tax menstrual products. ❣️ Would provide grants for menstrual products to be purchased through TANF benefits. When sh*t goes wrong, I laugh. So I laugh ALOT. This business hack is backed by science. Laughing increases your brain’s production of natural painkillers and stress relievers. 💡 Researchers used PET scans to study participants’ brains after they watched laughter-inducing comedy clips with close friends for 30 minutes. The Journal of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology published the study that found social laughter increased pleasurable sensations and triggered endogenous opioid release in the brain. Researchers also found that participants had elevated pain thresholds after watching laughter-inducing comedy. My takeaway?
