"If you’ve read even a few of the stories related to the Great Resignation, you’ve probably picked up on a key theme: the disconnect between what employees want and what employers are providing." Great piece Dominic Price! DAYBASE https://lnkd.in/e_2Ex4vU

We should think about new demand-side dynamics and opportunities when considering all of our infrastructure and consumption of resources. If rush hour went away (could it?), how would that change our supply-side constraints?
“We should not waste the pandemic relative to behavioral shifts when it comes to the potential for positive environmental outcomes,” says DAYBASE CEO, Joel Steinhaus. At Daybase, we're not only providing you the critical third space because home is too close and the office is too far. This way of life frees up time for our members to be more engaged citizens in their community, their families and more mindful of their environment. Daily commutes are only a part of this puzzle and it’s an important mission we're paying attention to as we build out Daybase communities. Thank you Commercial Observer’s Anna Staropoli for highlighting this conversation. #pollution #remotework #hybridwork #futureofwork #environment #greeneconomy

From the Financial Times … a lot of strong brands on this list, Mayor Adams, including NYC. Each one will continue to thrive by leaning into unique differentiators and the new realities of how people want to live and work.

A fantastic DAYBASE event on the Future of How and Where We Work this week at Company Ventures with Maria Torres-Springer (NYC Deputy Mayor), Ken Biberaj (Coffee with Ken, Savills), Matthew Harrigan (Company) and Phil Kirschner (McKinsey & Company). Here are our some of our biggest takeaways: 1. The individual has unprecedented control over how and where they work. 2. People want to be together; they just don't want the commute, especially during rush hour traffic. (I am very against rush hour traffic.) 3. To lean into hybrid work means to lean into growing, attracting, and retaining talent. 4. Workforce development is a generational project. Hybrid work is a critical component to these efforts. Of course companies launched in 2020 and beyond will have a completely different reference point to this work. Tune in: https://lnkd.in/ei3fa-Tr #futureofwork #rushhour #nyc #hybridwork

“Kansas doesn’t have a brand.” Thanks a lot, Mayor Adams. As a transplant from Kansas City who has lived in New York City for my adult life, I’m now getting attacked from both sides! But let’s not get caught in a destructive, mud-sling-fest — “New York is violent!” “Kansas is boring!” Places as “brands” — that’s a powerful idea. New York City has a brand. Kansas has a brand. The NYC brand may have wider brand awareness, to be sure, but both brands come with rich connotations. What the two brands share is a promise of opportunity. Go to Ellis Island. Read about the journey so many immigrants have taken over the centuries, seeking the opportunity for a better life, seeing New York City as a symbol of social and economic inclusion and mobility. Many modern Kansas families’ have roots going through Ellis Island (including mine). The Kansas brand has its roots in opportunity as well. Go west and build your own life on your own terms. Today, it’s the second largest wind producer in the U.S. Olathe (a KC suburb) just came in at #3 of Fortune's Best Places to Live for Families. (Alan Murray) Your state, city, or neighborhood’s brand actually matters more than ever, because in a post-pandemic world, more and more people will be able to work from where they want to live, not the other way around. For New York City, Kansas and everywhere else, this hybrid work moment is an opportunity to lean into what differentiates you as a place for the people who live there not necessarily for the companies they work for. We’re banking on that at DAYBASE. CC: Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stronestreet, Rob Riggle #nyc #kansas #kansascity #hybridwork #mayoradams
