πŸ‘€ People of Coworking launches with 2 diversity-empowering initiatives
Jerome Chang introduced the People Of Coworking initiative at The Summit this week. The project Expand πŸ‘‡ focusses on improving the representation of People of Color at industry events and on organizational boards.
The project launched with two initiatives: a pledge (already taken by 33 industry leaders and speakers) to only be on stage when the speakers are diverse, AND a list of recommended speakers and resources for organizations looking to improve representation on panels/boards/etc.

🀺 Is “space as a service” a terrible term?
We love giving things interesting names in our industry. One of these newer terms is "space as Expand πŸ‘‡ a service". Jerome Chang shares why it may be a terrible term (spoiler: nobody has ever referred to a hotel as ‘rooms as a service’) and sparks off an interesting debate, with insights from operators, consultants and friends (some of which have built whole businesses around the term).
I wonder though, what do YOU think of the term? Reply to the email version, or send me an email, and let me know.
πŸ—£ With conference season firming up, who aren’t you hearing?
Jerome Chang reminds us that with the conference line-ups firming up, are you seeing and hearing Expand πŸ‘‡ from diverse leaders & practitioners from across the coworking world?
If not, why not?

Tobi Skovron shares that CreativeCubes have hired Dr Ben Hame as their Chief Futurist and to Expand πŸ‘‡ establish their Future of Work Advisory Practice.
As the world of work shifts towards leveraging spaces of all kinds more flexibly, I do believe we’ll see more expansions into advisory and consultancy services.
Jerome Chang from BLANKSPACES was early on this trend in our TWIC calls highlighting how community-managers-as-a-service could be a huge opportunity for corporates who need help running new kinds of offices.
βœ‹ Demanding Diversity in Coworking Conferences
May’s IDEA Challenge is facilitated by Jerome Chang and Ashley Proctor.
The coworking industry has Expand πŸ‘‡ experienced significant growth in recent years, with conferences and events serving as key opportunities for professionals in the field to connect, learn, and collaborate. However, a persistent issue remains: the lack of diversity in coworking conferences.
