The randomized control trial of 1,612 engineers, marketing and finance employees took place in 2021 and 2022 at a global online travel agent. Those born on an odd-numbered date had the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays, while others had to work in the office full-time. Following the study, the firm rolled out hybrid work to the entire company.

Anna Tong wrote a fascinating piece in The San Francisco Standard on how more than half the city’s publicly traded companies have ‘gone remote’ and what it means for the hyperlocal economy.

Interestingly, 52% of the public companies with HQs in SF have shifted to ‘remote’, 26% are going ‘Hybrid’, 14% mixing ‘hybrid and remote’ and 5% doing something called ‘remote and in-person’. (I’m guessing the last two mean that some employees get one and others get the other. Or something like that).

Christopher J. Schmidhofer notes that in 2023, COWORK, the only coworking conference for the German-speaking world, will celebrate it’s 10th year.
